Community Advisory Board Members
Community Advisory Members are stakeholders that partner with the Healthy Aging and Functioning Lab because of a shared passion for helping individuals aging in place. Community Advisory Members help determine the direction of the HAFA lab. Community Advisory Members also serve as liaisons between the HAFA lab and the communities they represent.
Sira Botes, OTR/L
Sira Botes is the creator and owner of Botes Memory Method LLC and Director of Occupational Therapy and Dementia Care Services for Concierge Home Care. Botes Memory Method can partner with multiple Senior Living and Healthcare entities through the home care platform. As an Occupational Therapist specializing in dementia care, Sira is passionate about helping persons living with dementia overcome barriers to meaningful activity related to aging in place. In addition, Sira is a public speaker and educator that frequently presents workshops and lectures for peers, students, and dementia stakeholders.
Ylgynne Uta, DPT
Ylgynne Uta is a home health physical therapist at Brooks Rehabilitation. She is the lead therapist in the 3-Step Workout for Life home health implementation project. She is motivated to integrate evidence into everyday practice for better therapy outcomes.
Clinical Research Team
Our Clinical Research Team includes a clinical research coordinator and occupational therapy practitioners who currently support our clinical trial in the home health setting as research interventionists and outcome assessors. Clinical practitioners are often able to identify concerns in study protocols based on their clinical knowledge or reasoning, which improves the clinical trial and enhances the generalizability of the research results.
Briana Elson, MS, OTR/L, BCPR, CBIS
Briana Elson is an occupational therapist at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital. She also serves as a Brooks Clinical Practice Enhancement (CPE) Program Coordinator. Briana is a Research Outcome Assessor for the Synergizing Home Health Rehabilitation Therapy to Optimize Patients’ Activities of Daily Living project.
Jerelyne Idica, MS, OTR/L, CHES, CAPS, ECHM
